Just some documentation on what people get as they onboard.  The password for everyone is different.  

An email is sent to the person who submitted the form and they forward the information to the new staff member. In this case it was Lena. I sent her an email asking if she received the email. This is the form in Sierra's case:

Your new employee Sierra Brightly has been added to the Linn-Benton Community College Active Directory.  Please pass this information on to your new employee.

Here's your new LBCC login ID and password

Your  LBCC network login ‘username’ is your LBCC ID: X00465282

Your LBCC email will be: brights@linnbenton.edu

Your LBCC alias email will be: sierra.brightly@linnbenton.edu

You can use either email addresses above to send and receive Linn-Benton student or work related emails.

Your temporary network and email password is: 6sF#kzLsM.jx


Note: Your computer login screen will display your first and last name when you are logged in.


Here’s what you’ll need to do to get started:

  • Login to an LBCC computer with the above account or use a personal device to complete setting up your college accounts. Go to step 1 How to log in to the LBCC Active Directory Network.

  • Claim your Single Sign On (SSO) account at https://identity.linnbenton.edu and change your SSO and Active Directory password from the default above. Go to step 2 Claiming your Single Sign On account.

  • Login to Google G-Suite at https://accounts.google.com. Go to step 3 Logging in to Google G-Suite.

  • BANNER login instructions will arrive in the campus interoffice mail only if  your Login Request Form indicated that you would need a BANNER account. If you have questions this document does not address, just call one of the numbers below for new accounts processing.

Step 1. How to Log in to the LBCC Active Directory network

You log in to the LBCC network to gain access to network printers, shared files, and other resources. The AD login also gives instructors access to their instructor web sites.


  • Turn your LBCC Computer on then press the CTRL + ALT + DELETE

          Keys simultaneously to log in.

  • Type your LBCC ID for username and use the temporary password above, then click the right facing arrow or press Enter.  

  • If someone else's name appears just click 'Other User' and provide your login credentials.


Step 2. Claiming your LBCC Single Sign On system account

The LBCC Single Sign on System (SSO) provides access to many applications with one login and password. This account also works for logging in to campus computers. The SSO portal allows you to reset or change your password any time from on or off campus.


  • Open a web browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge

Navigate to    https://identity.linnbenton.edu  and click “Claim Account”.


  • Enter your first name, last name, LBCC ID and claim code in the fields provided


  • Your Claim Code is: 851015 - Claimed 7-Jul-2021


  • Click on the Captcha box "I am not a robot"


  • Accept the LBCC Computer Acceptable Use Policy


  • You will be asked to select and provide answers to 4 secret challenge questions. Two of these questions will be presented for account verification later when you need to change your password or if you need to recover your account.


  • The SSO system will ask you to set your password. This also sets your Active Directory Network login password for logging in to LBCC computers and must meet the complexity and length requirements shown to the right of the password fields.


  • Click Reset Password to complete the process.

  • After successfully claiming your single sign-on account you will be taken to your account profile. Please review your profile to make sure everything is correct.



IMPORTANT NOTE: You only claim your account one time and thereafter you just log in to the SSO portal by entering your LBCC ID and the password you set initially.


  • After successfully claiming your single sign-on account you will have access to what we refer to as the "Single Sign-On" portal which gives you access to LBCC specific applications.

(Do not bookmark the link you see after logging in as it contains extra information in the URL that will cause it to not work correctly from a bookmark - a link to the "Single Sign-On" portal can be found under the Quick Links on the campus web page)




Step 3. Logging in to Google G Suite


  • To begin, open a browser (Chrome is recommended). Then, navigate to the LBCC Google Apps/G Suite for Education Sign-in using one of these two methods:


  • Go directly to the LBCC Google Apps for Education Sign in web page by typing this URL: https://accounts.google.com    OR Go to the LBCC homepage by typing www.linnbenton.edu and click Email at the top of the screen then click STAFF/STUDENTS: Log in here to your LBCC email account.

  • The Google sign-in screen appears


Important -- do not use your first.last ‘alias’ to log in. Google only uses your full @linnbenton.edu address for login.


  • Click ‘Next’


  • Type your temporary password as above

  • Click ‘Next’ and agree to the Acceptable Use Policy screen.


  • Click ‘Sign in’
