LBCC Remote App Setup Instructions
Windows Remote App will provide you with access to LBCC proprietary application instances like Banner and Laserfiche. The applications are assigned to you based on your work requirements and are available remotely without the need for a VPN on a domain joined computer. You only need an internet connection.
The steps below outline how to set up and install the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connection file and include recommended/optional configuration.
1. Open a web browser (these instructions were made using Chrome), and go to: https://ALB-RDS-01.linnbenton.edu/RDWeb
2. In the ‘Domain\username’ field enter “LBCC\your X-number”, enter your password, and then click ‘Sign in’.

3. Complete the DUO authorization on your smartphone or OTP device then click on the respective Remote App icon on the home page.

4. This will download a specific RDP connection file to your Downloads folder. Open your Downloads folder and look for the file named ‘cpub-%App Name%- Banner_Laserfi-CmsRdsh.rdp’.

- Recommended: right-click the RDP file and select ‘Rename’ from the pop-up menu (If you are using a Windows 11 device, right-click the file, select
‘Properties’, then select ‘Rename’), and change the name to something you’ll
recognize like ‘Banner/Laserfiche Remote Access’ or similar, and paste it on
your Desktop.
5. Double-click on the RDP connection file to open the connection dialog window, check the box for “Don’t ask me again for remote connections from this publisher”, Then click ‘Connect’.

6. When you are prompted for your credentials to log in to the Remote App, enter your X-number and password. Note: If this is the first time logging in, the ‘Domain’ field may be blank. If that is the case, be sure to put “LBCC\” before your X-number. Then click ‘OK’.

- If you are using a hardware token and need to see your OTP code, click the “Show Details” button to expand the login screen to get your code:

7. The first time you log in, Remote Apps will build your Windows profile, and a Chrome browser window will appear with your chosen application displayed in a browser tab. You’ll be asked by Chrome to confirm a few settings after this first login.
- If you download any files, you’ll notice that you only have access to your network shares for saving. This is purposeful to create a separation between the server hosting the application and your work activities. There are several restrictions in place to help safeguard the system, so you may see some restrictions that are diƯerent from your work computer.
- You’ll also see Windows Quick Access folders like Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc. These appear by default but are turned oƯ, as they are located on the physical application host server.

8. If you close your Chrome browser window the session will close, just like it would on your work computer, so be sure to save any work you have done before disconnecting.
- If you create Bookmarks and favorites those will persist in future sessions.
- If you remain idle in an active session for more than 6 hours, you will be automatically logged oƯ, so please close the browser window when you are finished in the active session.
